Our aim is to explore the history of photography in all its facets without segregation of high prices and occasional high brow posturing. We are always looking for photographs that do not necessarily cater to a well-developed bank account. We believe that the photography in all its forms should be democratic and accessible to the small collector as well as the fine art collector. We try to reflect this ideology by buying and selling photographs that have a particular affliction to the history of the medium. We do not shun expensive and well -known maker photographs either. We would like our potential audience to be wide ranging. As collectors of snapshots and other related photographic vernacular, we see the importance of the small things and perhaps things looked over. That is not say that we will not post more expensive pieces, it simply means that we will continue to sell all formats and distinctions of the photographic medium.

We have also decided to implement a historical feature to our site. We will continue to add to our image bank. Although we would like to cover many facets of the medium through our collection, we have decided to shift our focus in particular to the nature of the body as it relates to the camera. We continue to collect images relating to what we (and Julia Kristeva) refer to as the abject body, or the body of the ?“other?”. The body in pain as it relates to social consciousness and metaphor are of particular interest to us. As one might expect, we focus on the medical body, the deceased body, and also the virile body. The idea of the virile body is to connect with a societal ideal that has governed the body politic of the past two centuries. Though it can be minutely disseminated into smaller historical movements, the body as it relates to eugenics and the modification of the body through breeding, physical culture, and the ideology was shaped predominantly in the 1920?’s, 30?’s, and 40?’s. This period of time is of extreme importance as it coincided with the Nazi movement and its genocidal impact on different races. Although controversial and not a publicly endorsed era of history, we must look at the political ideology as it relates to the body. The struggle for control of the genetic body continues today through the mobilization of industry and the human genome. It is our aim to understand and perhaps publish images as it relates to the ongoing struggle for control over the body and conceived notions of beauty manufactured by the camera.

There is also a selection of photographs by Brad Feuerhelm. My goal as a photographer is to also document the body as it relates to the history of photography and also the space it passes through. I am always looking for models that have a particular ?“issue?” in the corporal sense. I look for error as it relates to the body. It is obvious that through the library and images we collect, there is a pattern that has developed in my work that I will continue to explore. Although my images have some pre-text to artistic ideologies, I will continue to catalogue the body as it relates to abject theory. I am always looking for models for this pursuit. So, all forms of ?“error?” are welcome. I do most of my work in London (at the moment). Some images will be available for sale and stock image sale as the project continues. Any thoughts or opinions are welcomed as I appreciate critique.
